Tops tips to making social entrepreneurship work

19 April 2012

I was listing to the Stanford Thought Leader talk from Jeff Church on The Wave of Social Entrepreneurship and his closing slide I thought was worth sharing (although the whole talk is worth a listen).

Jeff talks about his lessons learned over his time building businesses and Nika Water. Here there are:

  • Begin with the end in mind
  • Be transparent with your donations
  • Act boldly with your financial backing
  • Find like minded people
  • The product and value has to be good
  • Outsource as much as possible
  • Learn on someone else’s nickel
  • Dont’ quit when that seems obvious
  • Find a partner or mentor who balances
  • Rule of 2’s - things take twice as long and twice as much to get done
